TL;DR

Focus on resolving denied claims and coverage barriers, educating stakeholders on coding and billing, and coordinating cross-functional patient access initiatives.

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; field-based role with travel up to 50%, including occasional overnight and weekend commitments

Annual base salary: $158,394–$185,578 for Level 5 and $164,276–$222,256 for Level 6

What you will do

  • Support patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, physician offices, and sites of care with access and reimbursement for infused and specialty therapies.
  • Explain insurance benefits, prior authorization requirements, reimbursement pathways, coding, billing, and available financial assistance programs.
  • Investigate and help resolve coverage barriers, denied claims, reimbursement issues, and treatment access challenges.
  • Build relationships with patients and caregivers through phone, virtual, and in-person engagement while assessing individual access needs.
  • Educate providers and infusion centers on coverage pathways, reimbursement practices, and prior authorization requirements.
  • Collaborate with Market Access, Medical Affairs, Advocacy, Case Management, Marketing, and Site of Care teams while sharing field insights.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree; or a master's degree plus 2 years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree plus 4 years for Level 5.
  • For Level 6: doctorate degree plus 2 years, master's degree plus 4 years, or bachelor's degree plus 6 years of patient services and/or access and reimbursement experience.
  • Experience with patient access, reimbursement, prior authorization, appeals, denied claims, and healthcare reimbursement systems.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, FDA regulatory requirements, internal compliance guidelines, coding, billing, and patient support programs.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, verbal communication, stakeholder engagement, and complex-case management skills.
  • Ability to work in a field-based role with up to 50% travel.

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting buy-and-bill or infused pharmaceutical therapies.
  • Rare disease or orphan drug experience.
  • Clinical background in nursing or allied health.
  • Experience working in cross-functional field teams and matrix environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CRM, AI, and relevant systems.
