Strategic Interfaces Systems Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States, in a secure facility

Basic compensation: $135,600–$169,400 annually.

What you will do

• Develop, author, maintain, and own Interface Control Documents for interfaces between spacecraft, payloads, and ground segments.
• Coordinate document inputs, adjudicate comments, and maintain the authoritative technical baseline.
• Develop interface diagrams, data dictionaries, message formats, command and telemetry mappings, and system-level interface descriptions.
• Identify interface risks and drive technical issue resolution across engineering teams.
• Support configuration boards, system integration and testing, contract change proposal reviews, and technical briefings.
• Coordinate Interface Working Groups and align MBSE models with ICDs and cybersecurity requirements.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience in satellite systems, spacecraft development, or aerospace engineering, including 5 years on DoD programs.
• Direct experience developing or managing Interface Control Documents for complex systems.
• Familiarity with spacecraft subsystems, schematics, interface diagrams, and data communication structures.
• Experience with systems engineering tools such as DOORS or Cameo, plus strong technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.

Nice to have

• Active Secret or higher clearance.
• Master’s degree and 12+ years of experience with space systems or space acquisitions.
• Experience with satellite hardware and software development, military or intelligence-community space programs, or MILSATCOM systems.
• Experience with MBSE tools and professional certifications such as PMP or INCOSE certifications.
