TL;DR
Systems Engineer - Design & Development - Hybrid (MBSE/Digital Engineering): Leading full-lifecycle systems engineering for D5LE2 subsystems supporting the U.S. Navy's strategic deterrent with an accent on requirements management, system architecture, and verification. Focus on developing Cameo/MagicDraw and DOORS models, resolving complex design trade-offs, guiding milestone decisions, and mentoring engineers in a safety-critical defense program.

Location: Hybrid or fully onsite at the Pittsfield, Massachusetts campus; candidates must be able to travel to the office once every 3 weeks. U.S. citizenship is required, along with eligibility to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance.

Salary: USD $124,397–$138,003 per year.

What you will do

  • Lead systems engineering across requirements analysis, functional and performance analysis, system design, trade studies, integration, verification, validation, and interface definition.
  • Drive MBSE and digital engineering strategy using Cameo/MagicDraw, DOORS, SysML, and DoDAF.
  • Analyze complex design weaknesses, evaluate alternatives, and make technical decisions on system trade-offs.
  • Lead technical planning, cost, risk, supportability, effectiveness, modeling, and simulation activities.
  • Support program milestone reviews, gate decisions, customer requirements negotiations, system accreditation, and security documentation.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and collaboration across customers, program offices, vendors, and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a related science, engineering, or mathematics field with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a master's degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience leading systems engineering across the full development life cycle on a major defense or strategic weapons program.
  • Highly proficient knowledge of MBSE, digital engineering, system modeling, requirements management, configuration control, and authoritative sources of truth.
  • Strong background in software development or computing architecture, including distributed or cloud systems and virtual machines.
  • Understanding of program leadership practices including Earned Value, CAM, SPI/CPI, and statistical process controls.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance.

Nice to have

  • Experience evaluating vendor, COTS, GFE, and CFE products and specifications.
  • Knowledge of safety and surety principles in strategic weapons system engineering.
  • Awareness of AI applications for continuous improvement and innovation.
