Systems Engineer - Design & Development - Hybrid (Defense)

Location: Pittsfield, Massachusetts, United States; fully onsite or hybrid/flex. Onsite attendance at the Pittsfield campus is required once every 3 weeks.

Salary: USD $124,397–$138,003 per year.

What you will do

• Lead requirements analysis and management, functional and performance analysis, system design, trade studies, integration, verification, validation, and interface definition for D5LE2 subsystems and system elements.
• Drive MBSE and digital engineering strategy using Cameo/MagicDraw and DOORS; develop and maintain system architectures, models, and designs for program milestones.
• Analyze complex design weaknesses, make technical trade-off decisions, and lead planning, cost, risk, supportability, effectiveness, modeling, and simulation activities.
• Allocate system requirements, negotiate customer requirements, evaluate vendor and COTS/GFE/CFE solutions, and support program milestone reviews and gate decisions.
• Lead security specification compliance, system accreditation and certification, security documentation, and technical product quality activities.
• Mentor junior engineers, develop team capability, build customer and cross-functional relationships, and identify opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a related science, engineering, or mathematics field plus at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a master's degree plus at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Must be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance within a reasonable amount of time and meet U.S. Government eligibility requirements for classified information.
• Proven experience leading complex systems engineering efforts across the full development life cycle on a major defense or strategic weapons program.
• Highly proficient knowledge of systems engineering principles, system development from concept through disposal, and safety and surety principles in complex, safety-critical environments.
• Highly proficient experience with MBSE, Cameo/MagicDraw, DOORS, SysML, DoDAF, model management, configuration control, and authoritative sources of truth.
• Strong software development or computing architecture background, including distributed or cloud systems and virtual machines.
• Expert-level critical thinking, independent judgment, technical decision-making, project leadership, negotiation, communication, and consensus-building skills.
• Knowledge of SPI/CPI, Earned Value, Cost Account Management, Statistical Process Controls, Microsoft Office, and requirements management tools.
