VP, Platform Engineering (AI)

Location: San Francisco, United States; hybrid work model with in-office attendance required on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Local hours (PT). Remote placement will not be considered. Travel to hirify.global offices or other locations may be required.

Base salary: $260,000–$290,000 annually, plus potential equity awards and annual bonus.

What you will do

• Set the multi-year strategy and roadmap for Platform Engineering across AI Infrastructure, DevOps, software delivery, testing, database administration, incident management, and observability.
• Lead AI infrastructure strategy, including model and platform selection, build-versus-buy decisions, client-facing AI gateways, shared tooling, governance, security, cost, latency, and scalability.
• Define standards for CI/CD, developer tooling, infrastructure as code, automated deployment, environment management, change management, release controls, and rollback practices.
• Own enterprise testing strategy and shared testing capabilities, including AI-assisted test generation, self-healing tests, and automation.
• Strengthen database reliability, observability, SLAs, SLOs, incident response, root-cause analysis, instrumentation, alerting, and operational standards.
• Build, coach, and retain a high-performing leadership organization across multiple technical domains.

Requirements

• 13+ years of progressive software engineering, DevOps, platform engineering, or related technology experience.
• 10+ years in senior engineering leadership, including leadership of multiple technical domains and managers of managers.
• Experience setting AI infrastructure strategy, selecting AI/LLM models and platforms, and deploying client-facing AI gateways, tooling, or capabilities.
• Technical fluency across DevOps pipelines, testing automation, API and contract design, database architecture, observability, incident management, and SLA/SLO frameworks.
• Experience with distributed technology environments using Java, Scala, and/or Node.js; Postgres, MySQL, Cassandra, or DynamoDB; and SQS/SNS or Kafka.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher, or equivalent experience, with strong executive presence and cross-functional influence.

Nice to have

• Fintech or banking experience, particularly in loan originations, servicing, or banking web and mobile applications.
