Head of Engineering - SVP (AI)

Location: Onsite at hirify.global's headquarters in San Diego, California, United States; remote work is not available.

Salary: $240,000–$325,000 per year, plus eligible annual discretionary cash and restricted stock unit bonus targets of 12.5% each.

What you will do

• Set the multi-year engineering strategy, application architecture direction, technology standards, and platform investment priorities across four engineering organizations totaling more than 400 engineers.
• Lead engineering, quality assurance, and business analysis leaders while improving delivery predictability, dependency management, talent standards, and organizational operating models.
• Drive AI-driven software delivery, including autonomous agents for development, testing, code review, requirements workflows, and deployment validation.
• Establish quality, performance, reliability, accessibility, and user experience standards for customer-facing web and mobile applications and back-office systems.
• Personally diagnose and resolve technical and organizational blockers in struggling deliveries and major project turnarounds.
• Partner with product, architecture, DevOps, security, risk, compliance, CISO, and AI infrastructure leaders to align delivery capacity, technical strategy, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or higher.
• 10+ years of engineering leadership experience, including direct leadership of development, QA, and/or business analysis organizations of 300+ people.
• Hands-on expertise in modern application architecture, API-first design, microservices, Redis, CI/CD, customer-facing digital products, performance, and low-latency systems.
• Experience with banking, securities, financial infrastructure, settlement, and crypto or blockchain systems, preferably in a regulated environment.
• Experience setting multi-year technology strategy, making build-versus-buy decisions, transforming delivery operating models, and leading project rescues.
• Hands-on experience deploying autonomous or semi-autonomous AI agents in software development, testing, code review, or requirements workflows.

Nice to have

• Enterprise application development experience with OutSystems, including ODC versus O11 tradeoffs.
• Background in financial services, fintech, digital banking, payments, or wealth management technology.
• Experience managing business analysis as an organizational function.
• Familiarity with AIDLC frameworks, agent-based test generation, LLM-assisted pull request review, and autonomous deployment validation.
• Experience managing delivery across co-dependent, multi-platform environments.
