Clinical Lab Scientist 1 (Temp) (Genomics)

Location: Fremont, California, United States; onsite 5 days a week. Available shifts include Friday–Tuesday or Tuesday–Saturday, with morning shifts from 6:00am–2:30pm and afternoon shifts from 2:00pm–10:30pm. Training hours may vary.

Salary: $56.25–$66.00 per hour, plus an additional premium for the PM shift.

What you will do

• Perform and report clinical laboratory testing on patient samples used for diagnosis and treatment.
• Follow procedures for specimen handling, next-generation sequencing, test analysis, reporting, and record maintenance.
• Identify and resolve issues that could affect test performance or result reporting, escalating them when necessary.
• Support laboratory licensure, quality management activities, inspections, quality control, and required documentation.
• Supervise laboratory activities in the absence of an onsite manager and monitor non-licensed personnel.
• Train clinical laboratory scientists and other staff in laboratory methods and assist with assay development when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in science or a related discipline.
• California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license or CGMBS license required.
• 0–4 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
• Ability to work the assigned onsite shift schedule, including weekends.

Nice to have

• Experience with manual DNA and RNA extractions.
• Experience with manual library preparation.
• Experience working with a microtome.
