Blood Donor Specialist (Apheresis)

Location: Memphis, TN, United States. Full-time onsite role working Monday through Friday, generally 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; occasional Saturdays or holidays may be required. Rotating shifts may start at 7:30 a.m. or 9:30 a.m.

Salary: $22.00–$38.50 per hour

What you will do

• Recruit, interview, and process volunteer donors for apheresis and whole blood collections.
• Perform apheresis procedures and whole blood collections while ensuring continuity of donor care.
• Perform and report pre-analytic and post-analytic activities for waived laboratory testing used to determine donor eligibility.
• Resolve collection process issues, support equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, and assist with donor center operations.
• Maintain quality control records, standard operating procedures, forms, inventory, and compliance documentation.
• Support research and development, procedure and equipment validation, staff orientation, and training activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma required; an associate's degree is preferred.
• At least four years of experience in a volunteer or commercial blood donor center with a high school diploma, or at least two years with an associate's degree.
• Three years of phlebotomy experience required.
• Phlebotomy certification is required within six months of hire; Medical Assistant certification may be accepted instead.
• CPR certification is required within six months of hire.
• Regular and predictable attendance is required for the onsite donor center schedule.

Nice to have

• Experience with apheresis or plasmapheresis machines.
• Experience in a blood donor or plasma center.
• Experience with volunteer donor whole blood collection or donor apheresis.
• Experience with laboratory procedures, equipment operation and maintenance, and technical collaboration with laboratory personnel.
