Global Supply Manager (Defense)

Location: Torrance, California, United States. Travel to supplier and vendor sites is required 20–25% of the time.

What you will do

• Own enterprise-wide and multi-program supply strategies for critical defense commodities, technologies, suppliers, and supply-chain capabilities.
• Lead complex supplier selections, strategic negotiations, long-term agreements, capacity reservations, tooling investments, and make-or-buy analyses.
• Assess global supply markets, manufacturing technologies, supplier capacity, financial health, geopolitical conditions, and total-cost drivers.
• Develop supplier innovation, design-to-cost, standardization, regionalization, and total-cost optimization strategies.
• Partner with engineering, programs, quality, manufacturing, finance, legal, security, and executive stakeholders on high-impact tradeoffs.
• Lead supplier performance, recovery, risk, and continuity plans while mentoring other sourcing professionals without direct people-management responsibility.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, finance, materials science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 12+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, purchasing, global supply management, commodity management, supply chain, manufacturing, or a related field.
• Expert-level experience in at least one defense, aerospace, advanced-manufacturing, or similarly regulated purchasing commodity, with the ability to operate across multiple commodities.
• Documented success leading enterprise-scale sourcing strategies, complex negotiations, critical supplier relationships, and high-impact cross-functional decisions as an individual contributor.
• Advanced communication, negotiation, influence, decision-making, cost modeling, market intelligence, analytics, and scenario-planning skills.
• Access to export-controlled information is required; employment may depend on satisfying applicable U.S. Government authorization, citizenship, eligibility, and security-clearance requirements.

Nice to have

• Expertise in avionics, machined or metallic parts, composites or special materials, hardware, chemicals, or a comparable defense-related purchasing commodity.
• Experience with global supplier networks, international logistics, regional sourcing, geopolitical risk, foreign ownership and control concerns, and cross-border commercial execution.
• Knowledge of FAR/DFARS, ITAR/EAR, cybersecurity maturity requirements, counterfeit-part prevention, government property, or other defense-contracting controls.
• APICS, ISM, Six Sigma, or comparable certification; active U.S. Government security clearance or ability to obtain one.
