Manufacturing Engineering (12 Month Placement Scheme)

Location: Skinningrove, Saltburn-by-the-Sea, United Kingdom; onsite five days a week. The assessment centre is expected to take place in Peterlee.

Salary: £26,000 per year, plus a share scheme, pension, and 27 days of annual leave plus bank holidays.

hirify.global manufactures construction and mining equipment, engines, industrial gas turbines, and diesel-electric locomotives, with the Skinningrove facility producing steel track shoes for construction equipment.

What you will do

• Work within the Engineering team on real improvement projects for heat treatment and paint operations.
• Support lean manufacturing and efficiency improvement initiatives alongside an experienced Project Engineer.
• Help implement automation and robotic product-handling systems and collect data for continuous improvement.
• Support digitalisation, cloud-based systems, and the transition toward paperless facility operations.
• Contribute to capacity growth, facility modernisation, and factory efficiency improvements.
• Prepare project feasibility studies and business cases, and liaise with internal and external departments.

Requirements

• Must be available for a 12-month industrial placement beginning 5 July 2027.
• Must be in the penultimate year of study, unless enrolled in an integrated master's programme.
• Be on track to achieve at least a 2:2 honours degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, Control Systems, or Integrated Engineering.
• Demonstrate problem-solving ability, openness to change, motivation, and willingness to learn quickly.
• Work onsite at the Skinningrove facility five days per week.
