Purchasing Manager - New Product Development / Introduction

Location: Hagerstown, Maryland, United States; primarily office-based

Salary: $103,300–$177,700 per year

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of approximately nine GPSC professionals, with additional dotted-line global leadership responsibility.
• Own purchasing and supply-chain key process parameters for more than 20 active new product development and introduction programs.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, Operations, Finance, Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, and Supplier Development.
• Drive phase-gate sourcing execution, prototype and production source identification, should-cost reviews, cost audits, and supplier capacity assessments.
• Identify and mitigate program and supply-chain risks using risk management dashboards and New Business Hold controls.
• Improve NPD/NPI operating structures, systems, processes, collaboration, and continuous improvement practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with seven or more years of experience in Supply Chain, Purchasing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to travel up to 25%, including internationally.
• Leadership experience developing and leading high-performing teams.
• Experience with NPD/NPI programs, phase-gate or Global Product Development processes, and APQP/PPAP or equivalent methodologies.
• Strong program, risk management, communication, organization, prioritization, and follow-through skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Power BI, SharePoint, Teams, project management tools, and MRP systems.

Nice to have

• Advanced industry-related degree such as an MBA or MSc.
• Certifications such as PMP, CSCP, or CPSM.
• Experience in global manufacturing, especially off-highway, heavy equipment, or capital equipment industries.
• Interest in using artificial intelligence to improve business outcomes.
