Systems Engineer/Model Based System Engineer (MBSE)

Location: Huntsville, Alabama, United States. Onsite position with up to 20% travel. Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Department of War security clearance.

What you will do

• Capture and decompose operational, functional, and system architectures using digital engineering and MBSE tools.
• Align aircraft system architectures with Army Aviation acquisition and testing strategies.
• Coordinate with contractors, military stakeholders, airworthiness authorities, and OEM representatives.
• Diagnose and resolve issues involving requirements, architecture, system design, and integration.
• Document system designs, processes, troubleshooting decisions, and technical risks.
• Monitor model-based design data, identify bottlenecks, and improve MBSE collaboration and review efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
• Experience with SysML, UAF, UPDM, Cameo Systems Modeler, Cameo Enterprise Architecture, or similar MBSE tools.
• Progressive experience in aerospace systems, MBSE, and/or systems engineering.
• Working knowledge of Army rotorcraft design, maintenance, systems and subsystems, and military airworthiness qualification processes.
• Experience with system-level reviews such as SRR, PDR, and CDR, as well as technical risk management.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of War security clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
• Experience supporting a Department of War CPE or Aviation defense program.
• Familiarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-882, MIL-HDBK-516, and the Defense Acquisition University framework.
