Maintenance Technician (Retail Real Estate)

Location: San Jose, California, United States; onsite property operations. Afternoon shift from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; training begins Monday through Friday and then transitions to Wednesday through Sunday, five days per week.

Salary: $28.50–$34.00 per hour, equivalent to $60,000–$70,000 per year.

What you will do

• Perform routine, corrective, and preventive maintenance throughout the property.
• Complete work orders and communicate work status, property needs, and potential issues.
• Support basic plumbing, lighting, HVAC, drywall, painting, carpentry, asphalt, concrete, paver, tile, and general repair work.
• Set up and dismantle marketing events, seasonal displays, holiday lighting, decorations, furnishings, fixtures, and equipment.
• Maintain loading docks, compactor areas, service areas, common areas, and other assigned spaces.
• Coordinate with tenants, residents, visitors, vendors, Security, and internal departments while following OSHA and site safety practices.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of relevant maintenance experience.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, plumbing, lighting, HVAC, and general repairs.
• Ability to communicate clearly, work collaboratively, and perform physical maintenance duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working on ladders up to 12 feet.
• Availability for flexible day or evening shifts, overtime, and scheduled on-call duty, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Nice to have

• Maintenance experience in commercial real estate, retail, hospitality, or property operations.
• Forklift, scissor lift, or boom lift operating experience or certification.
• Formal training or certifications in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or related trades.
• OSHA safety certification or related workplace safety training.
• English/Spanish bilingual skills.
