Senior Mechanical Engineer (Semiconductor Robotics)

Location: Chelmsford, MA, United States; work arrangements may include a mix of in-office and remote work depending on role and business needs.

Salary: $118,265.18–$160,005.83 USD base salary annually, plus an eligible annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Lead mechanical design and development of vacuum robots, motion platforms, end effectors, and material handling mechanisms.
• Develop precision electromechanical solutions optimized for performance, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, and cost.
• Act as a technical lead, mentor junior engineers, lead design reviews, and guide engineering tradeoff analyses.
• Perform and review structural, modal, thermal, and CFD FEA using Ansys, along with tolerance stack-up analysis and design validation.
• Support prototype builds, qualification testing, product transfer, production ramp, and DFM, DFA, DFR, and DFC initiatives.
• Resolve customer and field issues, lead root-cause investigations, and collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing partners, and cross-functional engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 8+ years of experience designing robotics, automation equipment, or precision electromechanical systems.
• Experience taking products from concept through production release and integrating mechanical systems with controls, sensors, actuators, and embedded software.
• Expertise in precision mechanical design, robotics, motion control, mechanisms, kinematics, bearings, motors, actuators, drive systems, and material handling.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools, preferably Creo, GD&T, FEA and simulation tools, engineering change management, and product lifecycle management systems.

Nice to have

• Semiconductor capital equipment or wafer-handling robotics experience.
• Knowledge of vacuum-compatible mechanical systems and ISO, SEMI, CE, UL, or related industry standards.
