TL;DR
Automation/Controls Engineer (Semiconductor Control Systems): Developing, integrating, and validating automation and control algorithms for ASML's EUV light source systems with an accent on feedback control, optimization, signal processing, and real-time system performance. Focus on designing test plans, analyzing time-series data, troubleshooting complex control loops, and improving EUV power, stability, availability, and efficiency in laboratory and cleanroom environments.

Location: On-site in San Diego, California, United States. A flexible workplace arrangement may be available for eligible work, with up to two remote days per week. The role requires cleanroom work, customer-site support, and up to 20% international travel.

Salary: $115,200–$158,400 gross annual base salary.

Company

hirify.global develops advanced lithography systems and EUV technology for the semiconductor industry.

What you will do

  • Integrate, qualify, and verify automation and control functions for EUV light source systems in laboratory and cleanroom environments.
  • Own control, optimization, and calibration subsystems, troubleshooting control loops, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Develop, simulate, implement, and tune algorithms for controller design, optimization, system identification, signal processing, and stochastic analysis.
  • Analyze time-series data, equipment logs, diagnostic signals, and test results to improve system stability, availability, efficiency, and EUV power.
  • Prepare test plans, acceptance criteria, qualification reports, system requirements, design specifications, and training materials.
  • Coordinate with Integration, Customer Support, and engineering teams, mentor junior engineers, and provide on-site customer support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Controls, Mechanical, Computer, Chemical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering, or Physics.
  • At least 2 years of relevant engineering experience; a Master's degree is highly regarded.
  • Experience designing and implementing practical feedback control or optimization systems of significant complexity.
  • Excellent knowledge of Matlab and Simulink, with knowledge of modern control theory, optimization, stochastics, and nonlinear control.
  • Ability to statistically analyze large datasets, report technical problems, and use data visualization tools such as Databricks, Grafana, or Spotfire.
  • Must be legally authorized to access United States-controlled technology before starting work. Must be willing to work in a cleanroom and occasionally work afternoon, evening, or weekend shifts.

Nice to have

  • Specialization in advanced control systems or plasma physics.
  • Coursework in linear systems, feedback control, optimization, signal processing, estimation, system identification, or nonlinear systems.
  • Working knowledge of C/C++ and Python.
  • Experience mentoring junior algorithm engineers.

Culture & Benefits

  • Fast-paced, innovative environment focused on commercializing EUV technology.
  • Medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance for employees and families.
  • 401(k) plan, eight hours of vacation leave per month, and 13 paid holidays.
  • Work includes collaboration across engineering, integration, and customer-support functions.
  • Reasonable accommodations are available for applicants and employees with disabilities.
