Senior Electrical Controls Engineer (PLC)

What you will do

• Configure and maintain PLC and HMI systems for stock preparation, paper machines, and converting lines.
• Develop control logic and advanced control strategies for consistency, basis weight, moisture, tension, and other paper-making processes.
• Install, calibrate, and troubleshoot sensors, actuators, drives, and process instrumentation.
• Analyze production data to improve efficiency, yield, uptime, waste reduction, and product quality.
• Lead control-related capital projects, including scoping, cost tracking, design, startup, commissioning, and third-party engineering coordination.
• Support mill shutdowns, weekend maintenance rotations, equipment troubleshooting, documentation, and technical development of Electrical and Instrumentation and Engineering personnel.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in PLC/DCS programming with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley ControlLogix.
• Proficiency with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley PowerFlex AC and DC drives and FactoryTalk View Studio with PanelView Plus hardware.
• Knowledge of industrial networking and control-system cybersecurity.
• Ability to work in hot and humid mill areas, wear required PPE, and climb stairs or ladders when necessary.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship and transfer of employment-visa sponsorship are not available.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Automation, or Engineering.
• Experience in pulp and paper manufacturing, paper mill processes, and quality control systems.
• AutoCAD Electrical or Oracle knowledge.
• ISA Certified Automation Professional certification or a similar credential.
