Engineer 2 (Java)

Location: 1600 7th Avenue, Seattle, Washington 98101, United States

Salary: $121,500–$188,500 annual, with possible performance-based incentives or bonuses.

What you will do

• Design, develop, enhance, and support APIs, web applications, and inventory management systems.
• Build scalable and reliable services using Java, Spring Boot, REST, microservices, and cloud-native technologies.
• Integrate internal systems, technology teams, Oracle products, and external vendor applications.
• Contribute to continuous integration, continuous delivery, cloud migration, automated testing, and release planning.
• Participate in Scrum development, peer reviews, architecture discussions, and cross-functional delivery.
• Provide production support, troubleshoot defects, and participate in rotating 24x7 support shifts.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of professional software engineering experience and a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
• Knowledge of Java and Spring Boot, object-oriented design, application patterns, and complex software development lifecycles.
• Experience with RESTful microservices, JSON, XML, backend RDBMS or NoSQL databases, and service integration.
• Experience with Amazon AWS services, containerization with Docker or Kubernetes, and modern Agile development practices.
• Familiarity with Kafka or SQS, CI/CD, testing tools, observability metrics, alerting, reporting, and performance dashboards.
• Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with business, infrastructure, security, and other cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python, JavaScript, or C#.
• Experience with Oracle Retail Merchandising Applications, including RMS, RIB, or SIM.
• Experience contributing to open-source projects and using AI-assisted development tooling.
