Product Engineer (Consumer Products)

Location: New York, NY, USA; hybrid with 3 days onsite each week. International travel to Asia may be required approximately 10% of the time. Applicants must be authorized to work full-time in the United States.

Base salary: $84,000–$105,000 annually in New York City, plus bonus.

What you will do

• Evaluate and direct functional and technical aspects of new consumer products with internal and external design firms.
• Review CAD designs and provide guidance on materials, manufacturing, assembly methods, and cost.
• Coordinate with manufacturing partners, quality teams, product managers, and design firms throughout product development.
• Create prototypes through external fabricators and in-house fabrication methods.
• Prepare bills of materials, functional and quality requirements, and manufacturing questions for quoting.
• Design and conduct product testing, review pre-production samples, improve existing product quality, and approve products for mass production.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, product engineering, or electromechanical engineering.
• 2+ years of professional experience in a related field.
• Knowledge of Creo or SolidWorks CAD software.
• Knowledge of consumer product manufacturing methods, including injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, overmolding, or compression molding.
• General shop and prototyping skills, plus working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Authorization to work full-time in the United States and availability for approximately 10% international travel to Asia.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of plastics, metals, silicone, fasteners, and common assembly and joining methods.
• Understanding of electrical schematics and systems with troubleshooting ability.
