TL;DR
Associate Mechanical Engineer (Manufacturing/CAD): Designing, prototyping, testing, and documenting mechanical components, systems, and equipment from concept through manufacturing release with an accent on CAD, high-volume manufacturing, and product validation. Focus on applying FEA and FMEA, creating prototypes and testing plans, improving existing designs, and preparing drawings, bills of materials, and engineering change documentation.

Location: Hybrid in Melville, New York, United States; up to 10% domestic and international travel required.

Salary: $70,000–$80,000 per year, dependent on skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.

What you will do

  • Design, analyze, prototype, and develop mechanical components, systems, and equipment from concept through manufacturing release.
  • Use CAD and computer-assisted engineering software to create designs, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Create functional prototypes and develop testing and validation methods for products and systems.
  • Prepare product documentation packages, including 2-D drawings, bills of materials, and engineering change orders.
  • Analyze existing products and designs to identify improvements, troubleshoot issues, and research mechanical engineering problems.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize product data, trends, test results, and validation findings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical design, high-volume production parts and assemblies, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to understand and apply FEA and FMEA in product design and development.
  • Experience with 3D CAD and drafting; SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Experience reading electrical and mechanical drawings, with basic familiarity with PC boards, electronics packaging, regulatory compliance, and validation testing.
  • Ability to solve problems creatively and work both independently and in a team environment; working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Nice to have

  • Prior internship or co-op experience.
  • SolidWorks experience.
