Associate Engineer, Mechanical (Rotation) (Mechanical Engineering/Industrial Cutting Systems): Developing and sustaining mechanical subsystems for plasma and waterjet cutting systems through product design, testing, and manufacturing support with an accent on design changes, verification and validation, and regulatory compliance. Focus on analyzing technical documentation and test data, solving product reliability and component availability challenges, and collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams.

Location: Hanover, NH and Kent, WA; participation in rotations between New Hampshire and Washington locations is required

Salary: $66,207–$110,347 annual base pay

What you will do

  • Rotate through engineering assignments as a Design Engineer before joining a permanent team.
  • Develop and maintain mechanical subsystems for plasma and waterjet cutting systems, CNC equipment, and torch height controllers.
  • Support released products through design changes, alternate component assessments, supplier coordination, and change management.
  • Lead cost-saving and product-improvement initiatives, including verification and validation testing and business-case contributions.
  • Analyze technical documentation and test data against functional and performance specifications.
  • Collaborate with procurement, engineering, PCB design, laboratory, manufacturing, and quality teams while supporting customer and field troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Currently completing the final year of a BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, graduating in December 2026 or May 2027.
  • Basic engineering analysis, implementation, laboratory testing, and evaluation skills.
  • Ability to contribute to designs and analyze routine problems under the guidance of a senior engineer.
  • Ability to understand and follow project plans and maintain project timelines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work across teams.
  • Must be able to work at the Hanover, New Hampshire and Kent, Washington locations; immigration-related sponsorship and support are not available.

Nice to have

  • Internship experience designing highly technical industrial products.
  • Embedded systems experience with microcontrollers, serial interfaces, and analog or digital circuitry.
  • Reliability design, regulatory design, or Lean manufacturing experience.
  • Strong CAD experience, preferably SolidWorks, plus engineering instrumentation and data acquisition experience.
  • Project management experience or certification.
