Forward Deployed Engineer (Fintech)

Location: US (remote). Relocation assistance to New York City or San Francisco is available if needed.

What you will do

• Partner with Sales and Customer Success on technical customer conversations, implementations, and onboarding.
• Debug customer issues across APIs, integrations, and production systems.
• Design and build product features, internal tooling, and automations.
• Own engineering projects from requirements gathering through implementation and deployment.
• Translate complex customer workflows into product improvements.
• Improve APIs, integrations, developer experience, and operational tooling while advising enterprise customers.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of software engineering experience.
• Strong programming skills in JavaScript or TypeScript; Node.js is preferred, or experience with another backend language and willingness to learn.
• Experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Comfort working directly with technical and non-technical customers.
• Ownership mindset and comfort working in an ambiguous startup environment.

Nice to have

• Experience building APIs or backend services.
• Familiarity with AWS, Docker, Redis, or modern cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with SaaS integrations or enterprise customers.
• Background in fintech, accounting, payments, or tax technology.
• Experience working in an early-stage startup.
