Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote from the United States, with listed hubs in New York City, Austin, Durham, and San Francisco. Travel to client sites and company events is required up to 30% of the time.

What you will do

• Embed with homebuilder headquarters, regional, and division teams to profile plan assets, assess data quality, and understand how drawing sets encode variation.
• Build and ship searchable plan libraries, analytics dashboards, and agent-enabled natural-language search from raw plan ingestion to structured, queryable data.
• Tune and extend Autotranslate AI to identify, categorize, and translate floorplans into structured data.
• Write ETL, build against internal APIs, and develop geometric similarity scoring and classification models for plans with different names.
• Measure catalog redundancy, dimensional variation, consolidation candidates, and purchasing leverage while meeting coverage, completeness, and QA targets.
• Partner with product, technical, QA, intake, and client strategy teams, present tradeoffs to executives, and create reusable tooling for future engagements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of engineering experience, including significant customer-facing or deployed work in forward deployed engineering, solutions engineering, technical consulting, or professional services.
• Strong hands-on data fluency with SQL, API scripting, notebooks, and independent data investigation.
• Experience prototyping quickly with tools such as Cursor, Replit, or V0.dev.
• Track record building structured data models, taxonomies, or classification schemes and running them in production.
• Strong judgment about data quality, accuracy requirements, and delivery tradeoffs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with executive stakeholders, plus willingness to travel up to 30%.

Nice to have

• Experience in residential construction, homebuilding, architecture, or AEC technology.
• Experience with agent-based or natural-language search, RAG systems, or LLM-powered analytics.
• Exposure to geometric or spatial data, CAD/BIM, computer vision on drawings, similarity, or clustering methods.
• Experience with large, messy enterprise data migrations or ingestion programs.
• Experience building a function, team, practice, or delivery model from zero.
