Senior R&D Engineer I (Solar Cells)

What you will do

• Support the development of advanced multi-junction solar cell products for space and terrestrial applications.
• Plan, manage, and execute qualification, confidence, and reliability testing campaigns.
• Design electrical circuitry and hardware for simultaneous environmental testing of multiple solar cell devices.
• Characterize solar cells using electrical, optical, mechanical, and environmental test equipment.
• Analyze test data in Excel and JMP, identify device failure mechanisms, and determine root causes.
• Collaborate with R&D and manufacturing engineers, external vendors, and internal stakeholders while preparing technical reports and presentations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related STEM field.
• At least 5 years of experience in R&D.
• Strong understanding of environmental testing, electrical measurements, semiconductor physics, and solar cell performance parameters.
• For work in the United States, eligibility under ITAR regulations is required, such as U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, refugee or asylee status, or eligibility to obtain the required government authorizations.
• Ability to work in an environment involving prolonged sitting, standing, walking, computer work, and occasional exposure to noise, dust, and fumes in production areas.

Nice to have

• Master's or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Experience with semiconductor product qualification and reliability testing.
• Experience in solar cell device development, design, or theory.
• Experience in a production-oriented manufacturing facility.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and effective teamwork.
