Senior Propulsion & Ordnance Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Torrance, California, United States; onsite. The role may require access to classified information, restricted U.S. Government sites, systems, or information, as well as government authorization or security clearance. What you will do

• Design and develop rocket motor ignitors, detonators, flight termination destruct charges, linear shaped charges, and related energetic systems.
• Lead the architecture, detailed design, packaging, and vehicle integration of ignition and ordnance hardware.
• Perform thermal, structural, and energetic analyses to ensure reliable initiation, propagation, and output in extreme environments.
• Plan and execute component-level and integrated ground-test campaigns, including instrumentation, data analysis, and design improvements.
• Conduct failure analysis and root-cause investigations for ignition performance, initiation reliability, and ordnance function.
• Collaborate with propulsion, AFTS, structures, avionics, safety, materials, manufacturing, and program leadership teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in propulsion, ignition systems, or ordnance and energetics design for aerospace or defense applications.
• Strong experience with rocket motor ignitors, detonators, initiation systems, shaped charges, or destruct systems.
• Experience with energetic materials, initiation chains, safe handling, hardware build, integration, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with energetic-system ground testing, instrumentation, and data analysis.
• Proficiency with analysis and modeling tools such as MATLAB, ANSYS, or equivalent; U.S. export-control and government eligibility requirements may apply.
