Launch R&D Technician (Hypersonic Missile Systems)

Location: Torrance, California, United States; onsite work with travel across the country for launch activities

What you will do

• Fabricate, assemble, modify, and configure test articles, fixtures, instrumentation, and mechanical and fluid assemblies.
• Set up, execute, monitor, troubleshoot, and document development and test-flight operations.
• Assemble, service, and operate hydraulic actuation systems.
• Maintain, calibrate, install, repair, and troubleshoot instrumentation, process controls, data acquisition systems, and electrical systems.
• Capture test data and maintain accurate logs, records, and documentation for traceability and audits.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on test plans, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• At least 5 years of hands-on mechanical experience in aerospace or automotive testing, complex mechanical-system maintenance, or complex electromechanical fabrication and assembly.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, walk on uneven terrain, climb ladders, and perform repetitive hand and arm motions.
• Ability to work outdoors in hot and cold climates.
• Ability to travel up to 50% and support hazardous test operations.
• Access to export-controlled information and, where applicable, classified U.S. Government sites or systems requires meeting applicable U.S. Government authorization, security clearance, citizenship, or other eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• Associate degree in engineering, mechanical systems, electrical systems, or a related field.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Teamcenter, or NX.
• Ability to read planning documents, schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, drawings, manuals, blueprints, and engineering sketches.
• Experience with precision measurement equipment, rigging, cranes, and lift operations.
• Ability to drive long distances and tow a trailer.
