Senior Spacecraft Qualification Engineer (Aerospace): Owning environmental qualification testing for spacecraft at a Berlin manufacturing site with an accent on vibration, shock, thermal cycling, and thermal vacuum campaigns. Focus on hands-on test execution, real-time data analysis, anomaly recovery, flight hardware safety, and continuous improvement of test facilities and processes.

Location: Berlin, Germany; full-time, in-office work 5 days per week. Occasional travel is required for testing and integration operations.

Salary: €68,500–€85,600 gross per year in Germany.

What you will do

  • Own spacecraft environmental test execution, including vibration, shock, thermal cycling, and thermal vacuum campaigns.
  • Act as the primary technical authority during test operations and respond to anomalies and off-nominal events.
  • Set up instrumentation, data acquisition systems, test monitoring tools, and test configurations.
  • Analyze test data, identify failures and unexpected hardware responses, and develop recovery plans.
  • Coordinate technicians and cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, systems, quality, and R&D teams.
  • Improve test procedures, facility capabilities, operational reliability, and technical documentation.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of relevant engineering experience and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, thermal, electro-mechanical, or robotics engineering.
  • Experience owning environmental test campaigns for flight or flight-like hardware.
  • Knowledge of spacecraft systems, structural dynamics, vibration theory, heat transfer, thermal management, and environmental verification standards.
  • Ability to evaluate test data, assess risk, make engineering decisions during abnormal situations, and protect personnel and flight hardware.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks CAD and FEA or an equivalent tool.
  • Ability to work independently, lead technicians, and collaborate with international engineering teams.

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience with vibration shakers, thermal and TVAC chambers, shock machines, and laboratory test equipment.
  • Experience building and operating DAQ systems with accelerometers, load cells, and other sensors.
  • Machine shop, prototyping, rapid iteration, or agile process experience.
  • Familiarity with Raspberry Pi, Node-RED, or Python and an interest in test automation.
