Communications Coordinator, Media Relations (Future Opportunity)

Location: Onsite client support at the client office in Arlington, Virginia, United States

Salary: $61,232–$104,094 per year

What you will do

• Support and advise federal press officers responding to national, regional, local, and trade media inquiries.
• Develop media engagement strategies for campaigns, announcements, and events, including target media lists, pitches, and supporting materials.
• Monitor daily news coverage and prepare reports and analyses of print and online stories.
• Prepare press releases, press kits, fact sheets, responses to media queries, and other communications materials.
• Support the development of local and targeted media lists.
• Provide senior-level counsel to client leadership and the project director.

Requirements

• Ability to secure a public trust security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
• At least three years of experience in public relations, integrated media, journalist engagement, client and project team collaboration, or generating press attention in national security or cybersecurity.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Research and organizational skills, including interpreting large volumes of data, presenting findings to clients, and meeting deadlines.
• Ability to manage tasks independently and handle multiple priorities.

Nice to have

• Experience in a PR agency, journalism, corporate, or government agency environment.
• Work samples such as communications plans, press releases, press coverage, or original writing.
