Media Relations Specialist (Insurance)

Location: Bloomington, Illinois, United States

Base pay: $64,800–$89,100 per year, plus eligibility for a short-term incentive plan.

What you will do

• Develop content strategies and external communications aligned with corporate vision, mission, objectives, brand, legal, and compliance standards.
• Serve as a spokesperson and manage relationships with newspaper, magazine, radio, television, trade press, and social media channels.
• Train executives and other company spokespeople to deliver consistent messages across external communication formats.
• Monitor reputational threats and recommend proactive and reactive media response strategies.
• Analyze, develop, and implement news media strategies supporting corporate priorities and public affairs initiatives.
• Create, produce, and edit podcasts, social media posts, and other digital and traditional media content.

Requirements

• 4+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
• Experience leading external communications or public relations strategies that build trust and strengthen brand reputation.
• Strong media relations and messaging expertise, with the ability to tailor communications to different audiences and channels.
• Experience partnering with executive leaders and cross-functional teams on high-impact communications.
• Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills focused on clarity, credibility, and brand consistency.
• Experience creating, producing, and editing content for podcasts, social media, traditional media, and other digital channels.
