Service Engineer (Heavy Equipment)

Location: Onsite in Chicago, Illinois, USA; travel up to 25–30%, including international travel.

Salary: $90,300–$112,900 per year.

What you will do

• Troubleshoot and investigate failures in construction, quarry, and mining equipment.
• Review failure trends and determine root causes to minimize equipment downtime.
• Distinguish material or workmanship defects from customer or operator errors.
• Review and respond to Technical Service Requests supporting distributors.
• Process Technical Service Information and forward cases to the relevant manufacturing plants.
• Work with Quality teams on countermeasures and provide feedback to global manufacturing headquarters in Japan.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of hands-on field or shop service experience.
• Trade school education or an associate degree in applied science focused on heavy equipment or agricultural service.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including PivotTables, reporting tools, graphs, and presentations.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines, work independently and collaboratively, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to travel up to 25–30% and work onsite in Chicago; the role includes physical work around equipment, uneven surfaces, adverse weather, climbing, and lifting 30–40 pounds.
