Network Engineer (Zero Trust)

Location: Onsite at Langley AFB in Hampton, Virginia, United States

Salary: $130,000–$140,000 annually

What you will do

• Design and maintain Zero Trust network architecture for the Air Force Intelligence community, including segmentation, micro-perimeters, secure access patterns, and continuous verification controls.
• Integrate Zero Trust capabilities across security, cloud, infrastructure, manufacturing, and application environments.
• Develop architectural diagrams, standards, reference architectures, and engineering playbooks.
• Evaluate software-defined perimeter tools, identity-aware proxies, next-generation firewalls, network access control platforms, and Zero Trust network gateways.
• Oversee secure connectivity for on-premises, hybrid, and cloud workloads and align solutions with identity-based access controls.
• Assess architecture gaps and modernization opportunities, guide engineering teams, and establish network performance, reliability, and security KPIs.

Requirements

• Top Secret/SCI clearance required.
• High school education with 9+ years of experience or equivalent experience.
• Experience applying Zero Trust principles to network design.
• Expertise in segmentation, SD-WAN, VPN alternatives, firewalls, NAC, DNS security, and SASE.
• Experience with cloud networking on Azure, AWS, or similar platforms.
• DoD 8140 Level II certification, such as Security+ CE, SSCP, CND, or CCNA Security.

Nice to have

• Experience in the Air Force Intelligence community.
• Familiarity with NIST SP 800-207, the CISA Zero Trust Maturity Model, and related guidance.
• Experience leading architectural decisions and collaborating across diverse teams.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and technical communication skills.
