What you will do

• Set up, adjust, and operate auxiliary and automatic bindery machines, including cutters, collators, folders, stitchers, drills, perfect binders, and gluing machines.
• Process printed sheets into finished books, catalogs, manuals, directories, magazines, and other products.
• Coordinate adjustments across multiple machine stations and adapt settings to paper weight, color, machinability, and quality.
• Inspect equipment for safety issues and maintain accurate operating conditions.
• Direct the production crew and monitor quality, output, and productivity.

Requirements

• Ability to read and interpret work orders and bindery specifications.
• Ability to calculate distances, clearances, and fits when combining machines.
• Skill with standard and specialized tools used to adjust and maintain bindery equipment.
• Knowledge of complex automatic bindery machines, including perfect binders, multi-station collators, and folding units.
• Knowledge of folding, collating, cutting, paper-stock, and finishing requirements.
• Navy, Marine, or Army printing and bindery experience may be relevant: Lithographer, Combat Lithographer, or Printing and Bindery Specialist.
