Health & Safety Specialist (Chemical Facility)

Location: Ashtabula, Ohio, United States; onsite production facility role

hirify.global is a chemical manufacturing company; this role supports the Advanced Materials Division.

What you will do

• Lead and continuously improve occupational safety, industrial hygiene, medical surveillance, emergency response, and site EHS programs.
• Support compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company requirements through audits, inspections, and corrective initiatives.
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, risk assessments, Job Hazard Analyses, and Safe Work Procedure development.
• Support Process Hazard Analyses, Process Safety Management, Management of Change, and Pre-Startup Safety Review activities.
• Manage safe work permits, contractor safety orientation and qualification, PPE programs, EHS documentation, training matrices, and performance metrics.
• Coordinate safety and employee engagement committees, manage site security guard services, and support facility security programs.

Requirements

• Unrestricted right to work for hirify.global in the United States is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Chemical or Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience, or 5+ years of Health and Safety experience at a chemical facility.
• Understanding of applicable federal regulations and EHS procedures, with the ability to lead teams and facilitate meetings.
• Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, computer, problem-solving, and self-management skills.
• Availability 24/7 for emergency response and ability to walk and climb stairs within the production facility.

Nice to have

• ASP or relevant professional certification, or willingness to become certified.
• Experience conducting safety training programs.
