Printing and Coating Engineer (Metal Packaging)

Location: Downers Grove, Illinois, United States; travel up to 50% to plants in Evansville, Indiana, Richmond, Indiana, and Hazleton, Pennsylvania.

Salary: $90,000–$100,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

What you will do

• Lead process improvements that enhance quality, safety, and production efficiency.
• Provide engineering support for coil coating, printing, curing ovens, oxidizers, and heat recovery systems.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment and identify root causes of operational issues.
• Lead equipment installations, audits, overhauls, and qualification activities.
• Collaborate with plant teams and OEM suppliers on new products and manufacturing solutions.
• Train operators, supervisors, and maintenance personnel on equipment setup, operation, and safety requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field; significant relevant industry experience may substitute for the degree.
• Experience in can manufacturing, coil coating, printing, metal packaging, or coating operations.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and experience with manufacturing equipment and process optimization.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and use precision measuring tools.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
• Working knowledge of coatings, solvents, oven systems, oxidizers, heat recovery systems, and LEL detectors.
