Packaging Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Hollister, California, United States; onsite

Salary: $66,900–$124,300 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus.

What you will do

• Review contracts, shipping instructions, customer flowdowns, specifications, and regulatory requirements to ensure packaging compliance.
• Evaluate packaging materials, including foam, corrosion protection, and shock-absorbing systems.
• Create and maintain packaging specifications, drawings, checklists, bills of materials, work instructions, processes, and procedures.
• Document, maintain, modify, and validate packaging tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
• Plan and coordinate packaging qualification and POP tests, including interval tracking and validation.
• Lead continuous-improvement events, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, shipping training, purchasing support, and cross-functional packaging issue resolution.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline; military or industry experience and training may substitute for the degree.
• At least 3 years of experience in a technical or manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office, plus working knowledge of SolidWorks or other CAD software.
• Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration, critical-thinking, problem-solving, project-management, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience implementing standard work and a strong commitment to quality, compliance, and attention to detail.
• Must meet U.S. citizenship or U.S. Person/export-authorization requirements due to U.S. Government contractual and ITAR obligations.

Nice to have

• Experience in regulated industries such as military, semiconductor, medical, aircraft, or food processing.
• Knowledge of Toyota Production System, Six Sigma, Deming Cycle, statistical process control, or another continuous-improvement methodology.
• ASQ certification and experience with AS9100 or other aerospace quality standards.
