Mechanical Engineer - All Mills

Location: On-site at one of the following U.S. mill locations: Counce, TN; DeRidder, LA; Filer City, MI; International Falls, MN; Jackson, AL; Massillon, OH; Gladstone, VA; Tomahawk, WI; Valdosta, GA; or Wallula, WA. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and hold a valid driver’s license.

Salary: $86,000–$90,000 per year.

What you will do

• Support mill safety, environmental, quality, reliability, and project execution expectations.
• Provide technical support to maintenance, operations, engineering, contractors, and internal customers on mechanical equipment and reliability issues.
• Develop and improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs, equipment tracking, rebuild programs, spare parts planning, and maintenance documentation.
• Plan, coordinate, troubleshoot, and support daily, monthly, and annual outage work, including contractor management and training.
• Coordinate capital projects from scope development through completion, including designs, specifications, schedules, startup plans, construction, checkout, and startup.
• Use failure analysis, equipment history, maintenance data, and cost information to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, or a related field.
• 0–4 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. and a valid driver’s license.
• Experience using AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Project.
• Familiarity with instrumentation and controls systems.
• Ability to work under pressure and within time constraints, multitask, build sound internal and external relationships, and handle multiple requests simultaneously.
• Excellent communication, analytical, organizational, computer, planning, follow-up, people-management, and process-management skills.
• Ability to make sound decisions independently through creative problem-solving in situations involving ambiguity and change; read and understand technical correspondence, memos, instructions, and reports; and apply skills to continuous process improvement while maintaining safety.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities.

Nice to have

• Experience in related fields or co-op/internship experience in the paper industry.
• Current membership in the paper foundation at listed universities or enrollment at a state or technological university in one of the listed states.
