Location: Live anywhere in the United States; work is performed at customer sites and onboard railroad track inspection vehicles with 3 weeks of continuous travel followed by 1 week off.
Salary: $24.46–$27.25 USD per hour, plus overtime and a sign-on bonus.

What you will do
- Perform railroad track inspection operations using measurement tools, electronics, and computer applications.
- Interpret railroad documents to derive train-speed information and analyze track measurement data for reporting.
- Operate hi-rail commercial motor vehicles and travel independently to customer work sites.
- Troubleshoot electrical, electromechanical, and mechanical systems on rail survey cars and hi-rail vehicles.
- Conduct vehicle maintenance, inspections, housekeeping, and safety-watch duties in railroad environments.
Requirements
- Must be able to live in the United States and travel independently for business purposes.
- At least 3 years of relevant electrical, electromechanical, or mechanical troubleshooting experience, or a bachelor's degree or equivalent with 1 year of experience.
- Experience with workplace safety programs, equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Windows, file transfers, and basic measurement and mathematics.
- Valid driver's license, strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work 12 hours or longer, lift 50 pounds, climb 15-foot ladders, and work in inclement weather.
- Must pass a Public Trust background investigation, e-RAILSAFE security check, federal pre-employment drug test, random drug and alcohol testing, and railroad safety exams.
Nice to have
- Railroad-industry experience and familiarity with 49 CFR Parts 213, 214, 229, and 238.
- Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, pneumatic brake systems, welding, fabrication, diesel engines, soldering, and cable assembly.
- Quality assurance experience, CPR/First Aid certification, or a Class B or higher commercial driver's license.
