What you will do
- Inspect railcar frames, bodies, safety appliances, wheels, axles, bearings, and related components for defects.
- Maintain, replace, inspect, and repair air brake components in compliance with current regulations.
- Operate electrical and gas welding equipment, acetylene/MAPP torches, and metal-cutting tools.
- Operate specialized off-highway vehicles, including forklifts, mobile cranes, track mobiles, and UTVs.
- Perform repairs in a safety-sensitive environment involving heavy machinery, loud noise, fumes, uneven surfaces, and extreme weather.
Requirements
- Must be able to report to the designated work location in Superior, Wisconsin.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future BNSF sponsorship.
- Must be at least 18 years old by the anticipated start date of September 21, 2026.
- Ability to work assigned 8-hour shifts in a 24/7 mechanical shop and safely perform physically demanding duties, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to read, write, speak, hear, and understand English; distinguish colors and workplace signals; use hand tools; climb ladders; and work at heights.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to follow safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
