Senior Architect (Transit)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; hybrid work arrangement

Salary: $110,000–$160,000 annually

What you will do

• Lead architectural design and documentation for transit stations, support buildings, rail yards, maintenance facilities, and related infrastructure.
• Coordinate architectural work with structural, MEP, civil, engineering, project management, and stakeholder teams.
• Manage subconsultants and internal design teams while ensuring coordinated and technically sound deliverables.
• Interpret and implement client standards, agency requirements, local codes, and federal requirements for CTA, Metra, Amtrak, and municipal authorities.
• Lead design production from conceptual design through construction documents and construction administration.
• Participate in client meetings, presentations, stakeholder engagement, and architectural QA/QC.

Requirements

• Registered Architect in Illinois, or ability to obtain registration through reciprocity.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture from an accredited program.
• Architectural experience focused on transit, transportation, or public infrastructure projects.
• Experience with technical design, documentation, construction-phase services, and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Strong understanding of Chicago and Illinois building codes, ADA requirements, NFPA standards, and transit agency design guidelines.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite; strong communication and team leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Experience working with CTA, Metra, Amtrak, DOTs, or other major transit and transportation agencies.
• Experience with federally funded projects and FTA requirements.
• Experience with Design-Build or alternative delivery projects.
• LEED accreditation, sustainable infrastructure experience, or experience with 3D visualization tools.
