Final Assembly/Prototyping Technician (Aerospace)

Location: On-site at the Alameda HQ, United States

Salary: $35–$45 per hour plus equity

What you will do

• Assemble mechanical components, structures, and aircraft systems using hand, power, pneumatic, and precision tools.
• Build, modify, fit, and iterate on prototype parts and assemblies, including composite layup, bonding, trimming, drilling, grinding, and finishing as needed.
• Install and test mechanical and electrical subsystems such as actuators, sensors, wiring, connectors, and other aircraft hardware.
• Diagnose mechanical and basic electrical issues, and support maintenance, repairs, and modifications on prototype and test aircraft.
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians on fit, manufacturability, serviceability, design iterations, and build-process improvements.
• Follow and improve assembly, testing, maintenance, safety, and documentation procedures while maintaining tools, materials, and a safe workspace.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience in technical assembly, fabrication, maintenance, repair, or a similar environment such as aviation, automotive, motorsports, marine, HVAC, or industrial manufacturing.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand and power tools.
• Ability to perform precise assembly work and follow technical drawings, work instructions, and established processes.
• Ability to troubleshoot practical problems and collaborate effectively with engineers and technicians.
• Comfort working in an active shop environment, using PPE, handling materials and equipment, and performing work requiring manual dexterity.
• Employment is subject to applicable government export-control authorization for access to restricted technology, software, and information.

Nice to have

• Aircraft assembly, maintenance, integration, or other safety-critical mechanical systems experience.
• Composite fabrication experience, including wet layup, vacuum bagging, mold preparation, bonding, trimming, or resin systems.
• Experience reading 2D technical drawings, interpreting 3D CAD models, or using precision tools such as torque wrenches, calipers, micrometers, and multimeters.
• Basic electrical troubleshooting experience and familiarity with high-voltage safety.
• FAA A&P certification, progress toward certification, or specialized composite and fabrication training.
