Staff Software Engineer, Frontend (Automotive)

Location: Remote with 4–5 days per week in the office, regular in-person meetings, company events, and occasional travel. This role is not eligible for remote work in New York City.

Salary: $165,000–$200,000 annual base salary; California base salary range: $181,500–$220,000.

What you will do

• Architect, design, and develop scalable, performant frontend applications for sales, order management, customer operations, fulfillment, finance, and other vehicle-purchase workflows.
• Define frontend engineering practices covering accessibility, security, testing, performance, maintainability, and code health.
• Make architectural decisions around frameworks, tooling, component systems, and micro-frontend platforms.
• Lead large technical projects from concept through launch and contribute to technical roadmaps aligned with business goals.
• Collaborate with product, design, backend, platform, and business teams to deliver usable and scalable experiences.
• Mentor engineers, calibrate and develop the engineering team, and promote pragmatic AI-assisted development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of frontend engineering experience with staff-level or equivalent technical scope.
• Deep experience with React, Node, frontend ecosystems, micro-frontend architecture, and large-scale web applications.
• Experience with GraphQL, RESTful or RPC APIs, web application security, secure coding, accessibility, responsive design, SEO, and performance optimization.
• Strong knowledge of branching strategies, CI/CD, automated testing with tools such as Playwright or Cypress, and cloud environments, preferably AWS.
• Experience with IAM/SSO systems such as Azure, Okta, or Auth0, plus startup environments and launching products from 0 to 1.

Nice to have

• Experience building AI/ML platform foundations or developer AI tooling.
• Experience in automotive, mobility, retail, ecommerce, or digital consumer products.
• Experience with multi-tenant platforms, shared enterprise services, mobile platforms, or React Native.
