Payroll Analyst (US Payroll)

Location: San Francisco, CA; the listed salary range also applies to New York and Seattle.

Salary: $121,600–$152,000 USD annually, plus potential equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Process accurate and timely multi-state bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll for more than 1,000 exempt and non-exempt US employees.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and FLSA requirements, including regulatory updates.
• Manage year-end payroll activities, including W-2 and W-2c generation, fringe benefit reporting, and tax reconciliations.
• Partner with HR and Accounting on employee data, benefits deductions, compensation changes, general ledger mapping, month-end close, and payroll reconciliations.
• Administer and optimize Workday and ADP payroll systems, including upgrades and implementations.
• Audit payroll data, resolve discrepancies, and lead continuous improvement initiatives using AI and other methodologies.

Requirements

• 5+ years of payroll experience, preferably with US multi-state payroll.
• Experience with ADP WorkforceNow and Workday.
• Knowledge of US labor laws, taxation, FLSA regulations, and payroll compliance.
• Strong organization, confidentiality, integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Bachelor’s degree and technical proficiency.
• Ability to work in the specified US locations: San Francisco, New York, or Seattle.
