Assistant Control Room Operator

Location: Niagara Falls, New York, USA; onsite plant operations

Salary: $33.22–$44.18 per hour

What you will do

• Serve as the primary field resource and communication link for the Control Room Operator and Shift Supervisor.
• Monitor plant conditions, take equipment readings, maintain operating logs, and perform pre-start and post-shutdown walkdowns.
• Respond safely to equipment issues, abnormal operating conditions, plant malfunctions, and emergency situations.
• Support safe and efficient operations during normal operations, startups, shutdowns, outages, and other facility evolutions.
• Complete safety, environmental, and operational compliance checks and participate in drills and safety activities.
• Assist with employee training, operational knowledge sharing, and coverage of other watch stations as needed.

Requirements

• Successful completion of the applicable Operations Qualification Standard and required lower-level qualifications.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand and troubleshoot industrial equipment and complex plant systems.
• Ability to recognize abnormal equipment conditions, monitor and document readings accurately, and communicate clearly with the Control Room.
• Reliability, accountability, leadership, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to complete required training, qualifications, and annual retraining.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, call-ins, vacation coverage, and outage support.
