Entry-level Electrical Designer

Location: Hybrid in Irvine, California, USA. Travel up to 10% to mainly local client sites.

Salary: $75,000–$85,000 USD per year, plus performance-based bonuses and equity participation.

What you will do

• Support layouts and documentation for power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, grounding, fire alarm, and low-voltage and technology systems.
• Assist with one-line electrical models, short-circuit analysis, protective device coordination, arc flash calculations, study reports, and equipment labeling.
• Produce and maintain 2D AutoCAD drawings, including electrical layouts, circuiting, panel schedules, riser diagrams, and one-line diagrams.
• Support 3D modeling, BIM coordination, spatial issue resolution, drawing organization, and documentation quality.
• Maintain design records, equipment schedules, calculation files, submittal reviews, RFI research, as-built updates, and closeout documentation.
• Participate in site visits, field surveys, interdisciplinary coordination, and progressively more independent design and project-support tasks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering field; equivalent technical design or engineering support experience may be considered.
• Basic CAD skills and the ability to produce accurate technical drawings from markups and direction.
• Strong willingness to learn electrical building systems design, analysis software, NEC requirements, and design workflows.
• Analytical mindset, attention to detail, documentation quality, follow-through, communication, and teamwork.
• Ability to learn software for short-circuit, protective coordination, and arc flash studies.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement in Irvine, California, with up to 10% local travel.

Nice to have

• Exposure to AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, or similar drafting and modeling platforms.
• Familiarity with electrical fundamentals, mechatronics, controls, manufacturing, prototyping, or technical product development.
• Interest in electrical design, NEC familiarity, and long-term growth in consulting engineering.
