Senior Project Engineer (Solar PV/BESS)

Location: Louisville, CO; Houston, TX; Salt Lake City, UT; or New York, NY. The role includes up to 25% travel to project locations and partner offices, including international travel.

Salary: $113,000–$141,525 per year, plus annual bonus.

What you will do

• Lead and support engineering activities for utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage projects from development through construction and operations.
• Perform technical due diligence, risk assessments, design evaluations, energy production modeling, equipment selection, and project redesigns for M&A opportunities.
• Develop scopes of work, technical contract exhibits, procurement specifications, EPC pricing inputs, RFP documentation, and permitting support.
• Manage engineering consultants and EPC contractors, review construction drawings, coordinate design reviews, and support technical negotiations.
• Provide construction and commissioning support, including responding to RFIs, performing field QA/QC checks, developing punch lists, reviewing commissioning reports, and analyzing system performance.
• Establish engineering standards and processes, improve cross-engineering knowledge sharing, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in engineering or an equivalent technical field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in solar PV system design, development, construction, and analysis preferred.
• Proficiency in PV system design, including one-line and three-line diagrams, NEC requirements, overcurrent protection, grounding, equipment selection, and short-circuit current analysis.
• Experience with medium-voltage collector system design and utility-scale, transmission-interconnected PV systems.
• Strong leadership, communication, planning, task-management, and teamwork skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work from one of the listed US locations and travel up to 25% to project sites and partner offices.

Nice to have

• Graduate degree in engineering, PE license, PMP certification, or NABCEP PV Installation Professional certification.
• 2–5 years of battery energy storage system design and modeling experience.
• Experience with MATLAB, ETAP, SKM, substation or high-voltage design, wind, green hydrogen, or hydroelectric systems.
• NFPA 70E, OSHA 10-hour, or comparable job-site safety certification.
