Director, Product Design - AI & Context

Location: Remote in the United States or onsite at Figma hubs in San Francisco, California, or New York, New York

Annual base salary: $290,000–$376,000 USD

What you will do

• Lead and grow a multi-team design organization spanning Design Systems, Code, MCP, CMS, and Community.
• Hire, manage, and develop designers, including managers, as the scope of the organization expands.
• Partner with Product and Engineering leaders to improve execution, set roadmaps, and define strategy.
• Develop and advocate for product perspectives across the organization.
• Lead critique, sprint, and design review practices across the Context Platform pillar.
• Balance people management with hands-on strategy and execution.

Requirements

• 5+ years of design management experience, ideally including management of managers and leadership through ambiguity and change.
• Deep understanding of modern AI developments, tooling, and component-driven design practices.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Figma's tools and the ability to mentor design teams.
• Experience partnering cross-functionally to solve complex design challenges and drive meaningful outcomes.
• Strong strategic thinking, communication, influencing, and solution-oriented skills.
• Ability to work remotely from the United States or from a US Figma hub.

Nice to have

• Experience contributing to open-source or developer-facing design tools.
• Experience partnering with Research and Marketing on platform-wide initiatives.
