Optical Manufacturing Engineer (Fusion Energy)

What you will do

• Provide DFM/A input to simplify optical assembly processes and tooling.
• Translate engineering designs, drawings, and configurations into hardware ready for testing, qualification, and use.
• Create and maintain work instructions and routings for fabrication, assembly, testing, and integration.
• Improve manufacturing quality, cost, build sequences, schedules, and throughput.
• Support assembly activities hands-on, resolve production escalations, and develop repair and rework procedures.
• Manage procurement, equipment operation, hardware configuration, product pedigree, and manufacturing safety validation.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• At least 8 years of direct manufacturing or manufacturing engineering experience in an R&D environment.
• Experience with manufacturing work instructions, quality control, build sequence optimization, engineering drawing reviews, and corrective actions.
• Knowledge of mechanical design, manufacturing principles, GD&T, and root cause analysis.
• Proficiency with CAD, including Siemens NX, scheduling and issue tracking software, and Microsoft Office.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee. Ability to work on the manufacturing floor, in confined spaces, and handle loads up to 40 pounds is required.
