Scientist, Cell Engineering (CRISPR)

What you will do

• Isolate, expand, maintain, and biobank primary cell cultures from diverse non-model animal tissues.
• Design and execute experiments to generate and characterize primary cells from non-model mammalian organisms.
• Develop functional cellular assays and assess experimental workflows using cellular assays and next-generation sequencing.
• Perform CRISPR gene editing and use chemical transfection, electroporation, and lipid nanoparticle delivery methods.
• Screen and validate edited cell lines for downstream somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) in collaboration with genome engineers.
• Track project milestones, maintain laboratory records, and prepare reports and presentations.

Requirements

• PhD in biological sciences, stem cell biology, genetics, or a related field; candidates with a BS/MS and significant relevant experience may also be considered.
• At least 4 years of hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture systems.
• Expert knowledge of primary cell derivation, culture, propagation, and biobanking.
• Expert hands-on experience with CRISPR gene editing and multiple gene delivery methods.
• Experience with flow cytometry, immunostaining, confocal microscopy, and microdissection.
• Strong aseptic technique, analytical ability, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with automated cell culture workflows.
• Previous experience with mESC editing pipelines.
