Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid work with an expectation of being in the office at least three days per week

Salary: £168,000–£252,000 per year base salary for a full-time role, plus performance-based variable compensation

What you will do

• Lead the Life & Health Retro team and set its strategic direction.
• Structure and execute retrocession transactions across lines of business.
• Partner with the Life & Health Business Unit to understand portfolio priorities, risk, and capital needs.
• Identify and develop traditional retrocession, alternative capital, and third-party investor solutions.
• Drive complex transactions from ideation through structuring, negotiation, and execution with underwriting, finance, legal, risk, and capital management stakeholders.
• Develop external relationships with traditional reinsurers and alternative capital providers while building a high-performing team.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in Life & Health reinsurance, risk-transfer mechanisms, portfolio dynamics, and capital implications.
• Proven experience in retrocession or structured transactions, including leading complex deals through negotiation and execution.
• Strong capital management knowledge and understanding of solvency and accounting frameworks.
• Experience engaging senior stakeholders across underwriting, finance, legal, and external counterparties.
• Leadership experience developing high-performing teams in a complex, matrixed environment.
• High standards of governance, documentation, and project management.

Nice to have

• Experience with alternative capital structures and third-party investor transactions in reinsurance or insurance.
• Familiarity with Insurance-Linked Securities markets and the alternative capital ecosystem.
• Experience identifying and developing new business opportunities in a global, cross-functional environment.
• Knowledge of regulatory and accounting frameworks, particularly IFRS 17.
