Software Engineer (Java)

Location: Nottingham, England; hybrid with 40% office attendance

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain software primarily using Java.
• Build new features and enhance existing capabilities in decisioning platforms.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Engineers, Architects, and other stakeholders.
• Contribute to the full software development lifecycle from design through deployment and support.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, participate in reviews, and resolve production issues.
• Support continuous improvement across engineering practices, tooling, and processes.

Requirements

• Professional experience programming with Java.
• Understanding of object-oriented design and software engineering best practices.
• Experience with source control systems such as Git.
• Experience working in Agile development teams.
• Understanding of automated testing and quality engineering practices.

Nice to have

• Experience developing APIs and backend services.
• Knowledge of cloud technologies and modern application architectures.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tooling and DevOps practices.
• Experience with relational databases and enterprise-scale applications.
