Senior Software Engineer, Git Systems

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, ship, and operate Git repository storage and serving services.
• Build and improve microservices, protocols, proxies, and control systems for Git operations.
• Lead technical discussions, design proposals, experiments, code reviews, and cross-team delivery planning.
• Mentor engineers and promote secure, reliable, diagnosable, maintainable code.
• Participate in on-call support, investigate live-site incidents, deploy mitigations, and write postmortems.
• Improve developer workflows through tooling, automation, and repeatable quality checks.

Requirements

• 6+ years of relevant software engineering experience, or equivalent combinations of education and experience.
• Production software development experience with one or more of C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python.
• Ability to meet hirify.global, customer, and government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
• Experience designing or operating large-scale distributed systems, including high storage volume, low latency, high throughput, or millions of queries per second, is preferred.
• Strong written communication and ability to collaborate asynchronously across globally distributed teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services.
• Production monitoring and observability experience.
• Experience with cloud-based system architecture, distributed systems, and microservices.
• Experience partnering with product management, design, and engineering teams on cross-functional projects.
