Staff Software Engineer, Git Systems

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and ship scalable services supporting hirify.global’s repositories and Git operations.
• Build and operate microservices, protocols, proxies, and control systems for large-scale distributed systems.
• Document architectures, run experiments, and validate designs through prototypes.
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentoring, and cross-team collaboration.
• Design for high availability, performance, low latency, and high throughput.
• Participate in rotational on-call support and resolve complex live-service issues.

Requirements

• 9+ years of software engineering or related experience, or equivalent experience; degree-based alternatives are accepted.
• Production software development experience with one or more of C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems is preferred, including petabyte-scale storage, millions of objects, low latency, and high throughput.
• Ability to meet hirify.global, customer, and government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
• Strong written communication skills and the ability to collaborate asynchronously across globally distributed teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services.
• Knowledge of monitoring, observability, performance characteristics, and failure modes in highly concurrent systems.
• Experience with large-scale system architecture, cloud environments, distributed systems, and microservices.
• Experience driving cross-functional projects with product management, design, and engineering teams.
